We are a leading European pepper grower, based near the market town of Chichester in West Sussex, with further large areas of glass in both Somerset and Extremadura, Central Spain. In Spain, an abundance of natural light and water allows a high quality crop to be produced between December and July thus supplementing the English production cycle. This highly sophisticated and efficient European operation, now covering in excess of 100 acres of biologically controlled crop, allows customers to receive a reliable and continuous supply of top quality sweet peppers all year round.

We moved into the production of cooked bacon, cooked sausage, roasted vegetables, bacon rollers (Pigs in Blankets) and other food ingredients in 1993 after previously producing raw meat products. The first continuous convection oven was installed in 1993. With the growth in demand investment was made in a second oven a year later and then an additional production facility was opened in 1996. Two high volume microwave ovens were installed by the end of 1999. The level of investment and variety of cooking processes has enabled growth to continue. In 2003 we undertook the next significant stage of development which involved the investment in our bacon curing facility in Coventry enabling total control of the process and dedicated products incorporating natural flavours and smokes.

In 1918 the enterprising James Robertson Ross created his own special blends of vinegar that his friends and family agreed brought out the best flavour in pickled onions, beetroot and other vegetables. He and his wife, Bessie, began making pickles in their kitchen, which they then sold around the local pubs and clubs, delivering by horse and cart. This early success led him to create the now famous range of Ross Pickles. These pickle products soon became well known and highly sought-after all across his home city of Newcastle upon Tyne. James Ross pickling secrets have now been passed down through four generations of his family.
