In 1935 we decided that good quality contemporary fiction should be made available at an affordable price and sold not just in traditional bookshops, but also in railway stations, tobacconists and chain stores. Seventy years later we have become one of the most recognizable publishing brands in the world. In 1936 and within twelve months, we had sold over 3 million paperbacks. 2001 saw us moving to our current home at 80 Strand in Central London. Now today our company has offices in fifteen countries from the US formed in 1939, to Ireland opened in 2003. At any time we keep more than 5,000 different titles in print at any time.
